R.S. Music Studio Policy.

To ensure a positive experience for all students and families, please review and adhere to the following policies:

  1. Studio Expectations

Student Behavior

  • Arrive on time, prepared, and with all materials (books, instrument, notebook, etc.).

  • Be respectful and focused during lessons—phones and non-lesson distractions should be put away.

  • Maintain a positive, growth-minded attitude—mistakes are part of the learning process!

Practice Routine

  • Students are expected to practice nightly to receive full benefits of lessons—the amount will be age and level appropriate and discussed during lessons.

  • Review lesson notes and complete any assigned exercises, pieces, or theory work.

  • Parents of younger students are encouraged to support home practice by setting a regular routine and providing a quiet space.

Parent Partnership

  • Parents play a crucial role in student success—especially for younger learners.

  • Please help your child maintain a consistent practice routine and create a distraction-free environment at home.

  • Stay in communication with the teacher—questions, concerns, or progress updates are always welcome.

2. Tuition

Flat Monthly Rate: Tuition is based on a flat monthly rate, calculated from a minimum of 44 guaranteed lessons per calendar year.

  1. Total Lessons Offered: Up to 46 lessons may be scheduled annually.

  2. Holiday & Performance Breaks: Weeks without lessons (due to holidays or performance commitments) will be communicated in advance.

  3. Built-In Flex Weeks: 2 additional lessons are built into the calendar as complimentary flex weeks to accommodate possible teacher illness or emergencies.

    • If not used, these two lessons are provided at no extra charge.

4. To cancel tuition, written notice via email must be received at least 2 weeks before the upcoming billing cycle. Tuition already paid is non-refundable.

Please note: Flex weeks are built into the studio calendar to accommodate teacher cancellations or emergencies. These are separate from student-requested makeup lessons.

3. Payment Policy

  • Tuition is due on the 1st of each month.

  • If a payment is returned or declined, invoices paid after the 7th of the month will receive a $20 late fee.

  • Late payment beyond the 7th may result in the student’s lesson time not being reserved for the following month.

  • Recurring late payments may result in the termination of the student’s enrollment.

4. Late Policy

  • Student Tardiness: Lessons will not be extended for late arrivals. Students are encouraged to arrive on time to get the full benefit of their scheduled lesson.

  • Instructor Tardiness: If the instructor is late, the lesson will be extended to make up for lost time or rescheduled as appropriate.

5. Refund Policy

All payments are non-refundable, but may be credited towards future lessons.

6. No-Show Policy

  • If a student misses a scheduled lesson without prior notice, the full lesson fee will still apply, as that time has been reserved for them

  • After three no-shows, the instructor reserves the right to terminate lessons without a refund for any remaining pre-paid sessions.

7. Cancellation/Rescheduling Policy

  • Notice Required: Cancellations or reschedules must be communicated at least 24 hours in advance.

  • Emergency Exceptions: Emergency cancellations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

  • Same-Day Cancellations: Same-day cancellations, except for emergencies, will be charged the full lesson fee.

  • Instructor Cancellations: If the instructor cancels the lesson, the lesson will be credited to the students account to make up for lost time and rescheduled as appropriate.

8. Makeup & Weekend Policy

Makeup lessons are available with at least 24 hours’ notice and must be scheduled within the same month as the missed lesson.

  • Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice or missed without communication will not be made up or credited.

    • Up to 2 make-up lesson credits can be provided each term. Make-up lessons must be used within 30 days.

  • Makeups are scheduled based on teacher availability—spots are not guaranteed, but every effort will be made to accommodate.

  • Weekend lessons are available for students who are unable to attend during the week.

    • All weekend lessons (including regular or makeup) will be charged at 20% higher than the regular lesson rate due to premium time and limited availability.

9. Communication

  • Preferred methods of contact include email and text. The instructor will respond within 24-48 hours.
